Event Details

Led by Fiona Sexton this CPD event is available free of charge to Norfolk teachers and all schools signed up to any Hub Subscription Package.

The day will consist of practical sessions during which the delegates will get the chance to explore three different approaches to teaching music at Key Stage 4 and they will be given a set of free resources to take back to school and use. The first session looks at set works and how to teach the key musical concepts found in the pieces through performing and composing activities. The second session explores how to develop compositional skills through whole class composing and improvisation. The final session focuses on song writing and how to develop coursework from a variety of musical stimuli. There will be opportunities during the day for group discussion and networking.

Musical Futures is a non-profit organisation working with teachers to keep music alive in schools and to nurture the creative talent of tomorrow. Their approach to teaching and learning is based on the real-world practices of popular and community musicians, making it relevant and engaging for children and young people. This workshop is suitable for any practitioner who is interested in implementing Musical Futures into their curriculum.
