Calling all young budding songwriters, rappers, creative writers, wordsmiths and poets!
Set the Tone is delighted to launch a very exciting project for 14-18 year olds across Norfolk. We are inviting young people to submit an expression of interest to work with professional singer/songwriter Emily Barden in creating a Norfolk Anthem that will be debuted by Emily on the 14th July at a Live Set the Tone event in Norwich and then performed by school children across Norfolk in the next academic year.
If you have something to say about your county and your experience of growing up in Norfolk in the 21st century and would like to be part of the specially selected group of young adults working on this Norfolk Anthem please do register you interest below. You do not need to have any previous song writing experience or be a musician.
Closing date to register your interest in this project: 12pm on Friday 30th April.
What do I need to do if I am interested in being involved?
We will be selecting a small group of young adults to work with Emily on this creative piece. We ask that you submit a short example of your work on the registration form below. It must be no more than 100 words and can be:
- A verse
- A poem
- A rap
- A piece of prose
- A shore creative writing piece
Do I need to be a musician to be involved?
No, we are looking for young adults with a creative flair for writing. Don’t worry if you have not thought of using your talents to write songs before.
What happens next?
If selected you will be contacted by 5th May and offered a place on this project.
The two creative workshops with Emily Barden will run on:
- Wednesday 19th May 2021, 7pm-8.30pm
- Wednesday 9th June 2021, 7pm-8.30pm
These will be delivered via Zoom and you will need to commit to attend both.
Later in the year this original piece will be launched and performed by voices from across Norfolk.
