Our ‘Virtual’ Big Sing events took place this week in the beautiful setting of the Woodland Arena at the Royal Norfolk Show.
Across the two days, we were thrilled to see over 800 pupils and their teachers from across the county all having a great time singing and dancing together!
There was a real buzz as 24 primary schools attended the events in total, representing all parts of the county. Plenty more tuned in to the live stream, which was broadcast live from the event by digital music education organisation, NYMAZ. By the end of the two days, the live stream had been viewed almost 3000 times, and this figure is expected to rise!
The events were led by our staff band of music tutors from Norfolk Music Service and professional vocal leaders Sam Chaplin (on Wednesday 26 June) and Lea Cornthwaite (on Thursday 27 June). On stage was a choir from Springwood High School, Cantabene, who had worked with Sam Chaplin in their school ahead of the events, and led the vocal harmonies, choreography and signing so expertly.
The events lasted for 45 minutes with 8 feel-good songs including ‘Celebration’, ‘I’m a Believer’, ‘Rule The World’, ‘Eye of the Tiger’, and ‘We Are The Champions’, with added air guitars and freestyle dance moves!
“It was an absolute joy to hear and see so many people in one room singing and enjoying themselves. I felt very proud of you all.” – Rackheath Primary School
“Our choir had a brilliant day, arriving back full of excitement and proud to have represented our school. What a wonderful opportunity to perform with others!” – Old Buckenham Primary School
“The Big Sing is an amazing project for children and gives them an experience they’ll never forget. We thoroughly enjoyed today and the children were so excited performing in such a big group. The virtual sing at school was a massive success and they loved it too! So many compliments from staff, some of which found themselves singing along and enjoying it when usually they shy away from such events” – Scarning Primary School
