Singer, songwriter and workshop leader Emily Barden will guide you through some practical ways to generate your own lyrics and melody, work with a chord sequence, explore song structures and offer methods for making more interesting melodies and more meaningful lyrics. The session will be run as if you are in the classroom with plenty of opportunities for contributions, idea sharing and questions.

Emily trained at Paul McCartney’s Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) gaining a BA (Hons) Music specialising in singing and songwriting.
Emily currently works with a variety of organisations, including Sing Up, Trinity College, BrittenPears Arts, West Sussex Music and many Music Education Hubs around the country.
Emily leads several Community Choirs under the umbrella of West Sussex Sings, and provides vocal consultancy to schools and vocal groups. She runs workshops and courses for singers and composition and song-writing training sessions for teachers and people working with young people.
