Young string players are invited to attend a workshop on Sunday 31 March, bringing together young learners to play together, supported by professional musicians from the Norfolk Music Service Teaching Team and players from City of London Sinfonia.

Closing date for registrations is Friday 15 February. You will be informed after this date only if your application has not been accepted. Music for the workshop will be issued on receipt of your application and after February half-term holiday.

DATE: Sunday 31 March 2019

TIME: Workshop 10.30am (Registration from 10.00am) The day will conclude with a performance at 3.45pm to which family and friends are invited. Ends 4.15pm approx

VENUE: Auden Theatre, Gresham’s Senior School Holt, NR25 6EA

COST: This workshop is free of charge and spaces will be allocated on a first-come first-served basis

STANDARD: Beginner to Grade 3 string players

You will need to bring:

  • your instrument
  • music for the workshop if you have been given any
  • a packed lunch, snacks and drinks to last the day
  • book/small game for breaks
  • dress for the performance – black trousers/skirt and a white top (t shirt/polo shirt are fine)

PLEASE NOTE – we are unable to provide transport for this workshop. Please collect children promptly at the end.

Rehearsal & Concert by City of London Sinfonia

As part of the String Celebration, on Saturday 30th March there will be a concert by the City of London Sinfonia, also in the Auden Theatre.

City of London Sinfonia is made up of over 40 outstanding professional musicians, who come together in the shared belief that music has the power to transform people across all areas of society.

We are pleased to be able to invite those attending the workshop, along with their families to also:

  • Attend the full CLS concert on Saturday 30th March, 7.30pm*
  • Attend an open rehearsal of the concert on 30th March, 2.45pm–4.30pm

If your child would like to attend the open rehearsal, please indicate this on the workshop registration form.

If you would rather attend the full evening’s concert, Norfolk Music Hub has a number of complimentary tickets available to those young people who attend the Celebration of Strings Workshop. These can also be reserved on the workshop registration form.
