OPEN Youth Trust (OPEN) is pleased to announce that on Monday 20 November ensembles from Norfolk Centre for Young Musicians (NCYM) and Norfolk County Youth Orchestra (NCYO) will be performing as supports alongside world famous baritone Roderick Williams and leading pianist Iain Burnside.
The ensembles consist of a Chamber Choir, a String Quartet and Clarinet Choir and are just three of the thirty ensembles from NCYM which covers a wide range of instruments, ensembles and styles of music.
Following performances by the NCYM & NCYO baritone Roderick Williams will be accompanied on piano by Iain Burnside in a performance of Schubert’s Die Schöne Müllerin.
Juliet Rickard, Manager of NCYM & Director of NCYO said: “We are delighted and privileged to be working alongside Roderick Williams and Iain Burnside at OPEN for the first in what we hope will be a long and fruitful partnership. All the musicians performing at this event attend the Norfolk Centre for Young Musicians”.
Speaking about his ambition to stage more classical concerts and recitals, CEO John Gordon-Saker said: “As a youth charity we are thrilled to be working with for young musicians from NCYO and NCYM and to be able to offer the opportunity for them to support two renowned classical performers. It is also fantastic that both Roddy and Iain have agreed to launch OPEN as a new classical venue for Norwich. Our Banking Hall is a magnificent space with an excellent acoustic for this kind of repertoire.”
Roderick Williams said “Launching OPEN’s classical venture is exciting and Iain and I are delighted to be supported by young local classical musicians. My ambition is to introduce primary and secondary school children to a broad range of classical music and I look forward to exploring that opportunity further via OPEN Youth Trust and their school connections.”
