Since 1988 the Norfolk Library & Information Service Music Sets Service has been providing multiple copies of vocal and instrumental music for organised groups in Norfolk.

The service is available to all choirs and orchestras, well established or those just starting out on a musical journey. The collection consists of full orchestral sets, wind and brass sets, vocal scores and part songs, sacred and secular. The varied range includes popular musicals, choral favourites such as Handel’s Messiah to more contemporary pieces by composers such as Chilcott and Jenkins.

Instrumental groups are catered for with a good variety of popular and standard works for full and string orchestras, wind band sets and brass sets. The collection also includes some easy music for varied ensembles whatever their instruments; these are particularly suited to younger players.

If a request cannot be met from our own stock it is possible to borrow vocal and instrumental music from participating libraries up and down the country.

It is easy to borrow music. The Music Sets Team can be contacted by email, telephone, or online at www.norfolk.gov.uk/musichireGroups can register at any Norfolk library, nominating a member within the group to be responsible for the music borrowed. Loan charges are very reasonable.

In 2014 the service became self-financing and is most appreciative of the support of the Norfolk Music Library Friends. Read more here. The Friends organisation are proud to be able to help to keep Norfolk singing and playing!
