We are thrilled to announce that our CASMA South Asian Fusion Project is a finalist in the Music Teacher Awards for Excellence 2019 in the Outstanding Classical Music Education Initiative category.
The Music Teacher Awards celebrate excellence in music and performing arts education. Awards are presented in fourteen categories, from new products and resources to Hubs, music departments and individual contributions to the sector. The Outstanding Classical Music Education Initiative Award is for an “education project that has used classical music in an innovative way, and done so with musical excellence and a positive result on a significant number of people”.
The winners of the awards are to be announced on 6 March 2019 at a glitzy gala evening at the Sheraton Grand London Park Lane Hotel, Mayfair. In attendance will be over 280 industry guests representing the best and brightest in performing arts education.
Our project nominated for this prestigious award is the CASMA South Asian Fusion Project, which took place in February 2018 and saw hundreds of pupils from 27 Norfolk primary schools creating massed choirs to perform Bengali music with a Norfolk twist to sell-out audiences across three evenings at OPEN, Norwich.
