Any unpublished composer based in the UK is eligible to apply. The submission deadline is 5pm, Friday 19 October 2018.
OPUS2018 is Britten Sinfonia’s annual competition for unpublished composers of any age and background who are resident in the UK, with the chance to receive a professional commission and tour as part of Britten Sinfonia’s award winning At Lunch series.
This year composers are being challenged with the task of writing a folk inspired classical piece, and the shortlisted composers will have the opportunity to work with Sir James MacMillan, Scottish folk singer Hannah Rarity, and a piano quintet from Britten Sinfonia. The winner will receive a commission fee, a three date tour of their piece in London, Cambridge and Norwich, and a professional recording.
