Norfolk Music Hub invite you all to join our virtual workshops!

Our summer holiday workshops will be delivered online. Once you have registered, we will then be in touch nearer the time with details on how to log in and take part.

These workshops are all free to young people across Norfolk.

Norfolk County Youth Choir Taster sessions 

When: Tuesday 27 July and Tuesday 24 August, 10.30-11.15am

You can register for just one or both of the sessions.

Join Alison Brain (Head of Norfolk Music Service) for a fun interactive vocal session!

We are going to debut the specially commissioned song from our An Anthem For Norfolk project and encourage people to join Alison Brain and Emily Barden online to learn this song.

This is aimed at a taster session for young people due to start in year 6 in September 2021 upwards to year 11.

After this session young people are invited to register for Norfolk County Youth Choir.


Learn to Rap 

Ages 6-9 year olds: Wednesday 11 August, 11am
Ages 10-13 year olds: Thursday 12 August, 11am

In this workshop you will join Veronica Youdell and learn the basics of how to rap in time with a beat. You will practice tongue twisters, basic rap exercise and learn a rap song.


Jamming to the Beat! 

When: Monday 16 August
Ages 5-7 year olds: 1pm
Ages 8-11 year olds: 2pm

Join Tim Brain from Louder Than Life in learning to make fun rhythms together. This fun interactive session will ensure your little ones enjoy 45 minutes of fun musical activity


Where Yoga Meets Rap! 

When: Tuesday 17 August, 11am

For: 13-18 year olds

The Foundations Class has been created for yoga beginners and for anybody who wants to practice yoga in a unique way. The whole class is set to a soundtrack of ambient hip hop music and all of the instructions are delivered in rap and spoken word.

When you hear me say YO!GA – you are invited to rap the positive affirmation whilst holding the yoga pose.

The class includes breathing, warm-ups, dynamic flows, deep stretching and relaxation.


Writing a Rap 

When: Wednesday 18 August, 11am

For: 13-18 year olds

In this crash course workshop you will learn the basics of how to appreciate a beat and begin the process of creating your own rap lyrics with Veronica Youdell.

We will cover beat counting, rhyme, metaphors and song writing structure.


Pots and Pans Samba 

When: Wednesday 18 August, 1pm

For: 5-7 year olds

Turn your kitchen into a Brazilian Street Carnival using everyday objects to recreate exciting South American rhythms and patterns!

To take part in this session you will need:

  • a couple of different sized pans or tins
  • a couple of wooden spoons
  • a chopping board
  • a yoghurt pot
  • dried rice or pasta
  • sellotape

No musical experience is necessary just a sense of fun and enjoyment!

When: Wednesday 18 August, 2pm

For: 8-11 year olds

Learn how to play the djembe without a djembe! Learn about the culture of African djembe playing, how it influenced music from other parts of the world, and play using just your hands and your knees (or a cushion).
