Actor Musician Performance Academy at The Garage, Norwich
The Garage has an opportunity for young musicians and young actors to work with Musical Director Sam Sommerfeld and Director Tom Fox for two weeks this summer on an exciting devised actor musician performance.
You will need to have acting and or music skills (Grade 5 or above in whichever instrument you play), be aged 14-25 years old, willing and comfortable with group singing.
The rehearsal process will be interesting – you will get to explore the art form ‘actor-musicianship’ under the guidance of industry professionals.
This opportunity is for young people who are serious about performance and keen to develop new skills.
You will rehearse at The Garage from Monday 13 until Thursday 23 August 10am – 3.30pm each day (excluding Sat 18 & Sun 19), you will then perform the piece on The Garage stage twice on Friday 24 August.
The creative content will explore dark themes, imagery, character and music from Beauty & the Beast, using Angela Carter’s writing as a starting point.
Sam Sommerfeld the Musical Director has recently been the associate MD for Stings Musical the Last Ship (see thelastshipmusical.co.uk/cast-creative-team).
Tom Fox is Artistic Director for Lamphouse Theatre Company, Tom has previously directed work performed at The National Theatre.
