Event Details

Following the sad news on 5th September of the death of Ivan Cane, the Academy of St Thomas founder, the orchestra’s next concert on 15th October will now be in memoriam, opening with Sospiri by Elgar in tribute.

Conducted by Christopher Adey the concert will continue with Poulenc’s Sinfonietta which the AST recorded for their first CD in 2000.

As one of the most recorded oboists in the world the Academy of St Thomas is delighted that John Anderson will be performing the lush romantic Strauss Oboe Concerto. The concert will conclude with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, a bright symphony in D major full of his melodies and humour. The AST have received great acclaim for their performances of Beethoven with Christopher Adey.

Tickets: St George’s Music Shop 01603 626414 or online Ticketsource.co.uk/AST. Discounted tickets available for students/under 18s.
