A King's Ransom banner

Into Opera are offering four primary schools in Norfolk the opportunity to participate in the professional world premiere of an opera, written especially for children aged 7-11 to perform, by renowned classical composer, Patrick Hawes.

A King’s Ransom, reimagines the story of Robin Hood, exploring what happens when Robin is unable to save the day. The performance will take place at the Norwich performance venue OPEN on the 1 and 2 February 2018 and the children will have the opportunity to perform alongside the Britten Sinfonia.

This experience will include a 13 week artistic residency in the four primary schools selected. Into Opera will provide key stage two pupils with the chance to work closely with the opera’s composer, librettist, orchestra, stage director, designer and choreographer on a weekly basis.

The aim is for this project to provide a unique, engaging and accessible introduction to opera and all that it encompasses: classical music, drama, dance, the written word and stage design.

The deadline for applications is Friday 25th November 2016. If you would like more information about the application process please get in touch with Genevieve, the Artistic Director of Into Opera: genevieve.raghu@into-opera.org.uk.
