Sistema Norwich offers children and young people (Yr3+, 7 to 18 years) the opportunity to learn to play a musical instrument and be part of an orchestra. It is run in partnership between NORCA and the Norfolk Music Hub, as part of the Hub’s ensemble provision.

Our mission is to engage young people in a positive and enriching culture of music, learning and participation. We provide instruments and deliver all our activities for free, making music education accessible for any family.

All our teaching is in groups. Students get weekly sessions covering an instrumental lesson, general musicality, choir and ensemble/orchestra. Instruments covered include upper strings (violin/viola), lower strings (cello/double bass), wind, brass and percussion.

Sistema runs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays in term time – 4.15 to 6.15pm. Students attend two days each week, with the days depending on the orchestra level (e.g. Da Capo, beginners, are on Tues & Thurs).

It is based at Martineau Memorial Hall, 21 Colegate, Norwich NR3 1BN.
