Norfolk Music Hub and BBC Introducing Norfolk invite 14-17 year old females throughout Norfolk to take part in our exciting new project launching in Autumn 2020!
With this project we aim to empower young females – regardless of previous musical experience – to write and perform music, to build self-confidence and engage in contemporary music making opportunities.
This project will cover song writing, collaborating, recording, producing and Q&A’s with lead professionals. We will also offer mentoring and professional feedback and the opportunity for artists and their work to be showcased on BBC Introducing Norfolk.
Workshops will be delivered online on Wednesdays at 5.45pm (for approximately one hour), on the following dates:
- 30th September – Songwriting workshop with Emily Barden
- 7th October – Collaboration workshop with Clare Dove
- 14th October – Vocal health and healthy singing with Ellie Bowers-Jolley
- 21st October – Songwriting workshop with Gus Harvey
- 4th November – Producing and recording with Lucy Pearson
- 11th November – Q&A with Emily Barden
- 18th November – Q&A with Gus Harvey
Mentoring and Feedback
Students signed up for this project will also have access to mentors. These mentors will be there as a contact for the entire project and can be accessed via an email address to answer any questions or to review work in progress and offer suggestions for next steps. Students will be assigned a mentor who is best matched to both musical interest and skillset.
BBC Introducing Norfolk Opportunity
Students who are signed up for this project will be given the opportunity to showcase their talents on BBC Music Introducing in Norfolk.
Some students will also be given the opportunity to talk about their musical journey live on the radio.
Phase 2 of this project
It is hoped that phase 2 of this project will continue in the Spring term, with the opportunity for a live gig to showcase those students who have worked on this project with us.
